BIOGRAPHY

Richard “Maddox” Fletcher is a contemporary mixed media artist based in Charlotte, North Carolina. His work explores the intersection of intuition, memory, mythology, and the human condition. Working primarily on wood panel and rag paper, he creates richly layered surfaces using collage, acrylic, ink, oil pastel, and incised mark making. Beginning with non-representational compositions, his paintings evolve through a visual dialogue between intuition and deliberate decision-making, allowing imagery to emerge organically from the process.

Fletcher’s work ranges from non-representational compositions to allegorical narratives that invite reflection on spirituality, humanity, and our relationship to the world around us. Rather than prescribing a single interpretation, his paintings encourage viewers to engage with symbolism and discover their own meanings through the layered imagery.

He maintains an active studio practice in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he continues to expand his body of work and exhibit throughout the region.
